The simplicity of this image is excellent. I like the fading depth of field focus, with "6" being the only infocus number.
Clean and simple, with just the right amount of negative space. Both lighting and focus also beautifully handled. I can imagine the feel of the buttons on my fingertips!
Good job of creating an interesting image from a fairly mundane subject. Good use of the softening effect and a sort of "high key" overall look. Diagonal adds to the interest.
Nothing to suggest.
I like the simplicity of the black and white numbers. No colours or other distractions in the photo.
The soft focus effect is distracting; why put 3-6-9 in focus and not the other digits? It makes me think I am missing somthing in the photo. The large amount of white space in the bottom right portion seems unbalanced.
Good interpretation of the theme as the number stands out strongly because of the placement in the composition and the colour. Lots of interesting detail. The reflection adds to the interest.
The image reads a bit flat and dull. A bit of post-processing to lift the brightness and clarity would make it more engaging.
Good catch for the theme, and as a stand-alone image as well. Composition is balanced, and the gull adds a nice touch. Perfect reflection placed to catch the number but keep the composition asymmetrical.
Although the colours are fairly monochrome, overall the mood is a little "bright". This is one where I think more muted light or twilight might add more to the story of "demise". Or perhaps complete black and white with the red brought forward? Lots to experiment with here should you be so inclined.
I like the reflection in the water, really invokes the feeling of the ship going down. I also think the seagull staring in the background is amusing too. The angle of the boat almost makes it seem like it is sinking in front of you.
The reflection in the top right of the image seems distracting.
A very unique and intriguing interpretation of the theme. Good contrast and sharpness which suits the subject. The shape of the shadows seems to repeat shapes in the diagram; very compelling composition.
Nada. Sorry.
Brilliant idea for the theme and also leaves me wondering if it was a sheet of glass or digital magic.
I find the lack of black leaves the background a little "flat" although the white is bright, so that may have been a deliberate choice. Still, the lack of contrast in the background feels "off" to me. It might be my darkroom background.
Nicely done with the shadows from the overhead lighting making the triangles in the sketch.
It is an interesting angle to take the photograph. I wonder if a slightly different angle would emphasize the shadow/sketch triangle even more?
Though the numbers are a small part of the composition, the implied 50 resonates, reinforcing the numbers theme. The somewhat moody light adds to the somber message of the banners. It has a bit of a feel of memory.
The bottom edge of the image looks crowded and awkward. If the setting permitted more space at the bottom it would lend balance to the image.
A simple story, told well, with just the detail you need and no more (well, a bit of a street light, but it's screened well and I didn't notice it for a while). The banner is well exposed to show detail, and those little flags in the bottom right are just icing on the cake. Nicely done.
If possible, I might have angled so that the top of the banners are a little closer to the top of the frame, allowing just a touch more to show under the lamps. But I wasn't there.
I like how the banners curve in towards the centre at the bottom. Makes it seem very "ghostly", remembering the spirits of those who gave up their lives for their country.
I'm not sure if the circular lamps at the bottom add to the image, although it might be hard to crop them out without losing the effect on the banners.
Excellent interpretation of the theme: huge numbers and the number illustrate an anniversary which is a number. Wonderful composition; strong diagonals, great contrast, repeating red elements all work together to make a very strong image.
Although initially the number really blasts me in the face, I love the carefully done angles, and the red lights and lines really draw my eye through and around the image.
Although possibly shot for the theme, this one might not be something you'd frame on the wall, but would fit very nicely in a show or a series of images.
A strong presence by the numbers, which is well off-set by the 4 red circular lights and the black scaffolding. I also like the use of diagonal lines in the various shapes.
The red and white lights at the bottom take away from the effect at the top. Maybe consider cropping them off or recolouring them?
Very compelling interpretation of the theme. Not only are there numbers present, we also know that as soon as those wickets open all the action will be about numbers, as well. Strong composition, with that gold diagonal line leading the eye into the image. The image seems to have a "waiting" mood enhanced by the light.
There might be a bias here, but I personally do love repetition. Well seen, and congrats for a capture that most people probably wouldn't "see" for a photograph. It really captures the mood of those endless lines we sometimes face. Meets the theme without screaming "look - numbers!" And those little wheels? Do they move those cubicles around?
Nothing to suggest here.
The use of consecutive numbers on the booths is a good effect on this image, with the repeating pattern going along each kiosk.
Not much - maybe dim the floor tiles a bit?
The clock is a fine choice for the theme. Interesting textures. Nice contrast.
Presumably the clock is the "subject" of the photo, so it feels a bit uncomfortable thta the light vignetting affects the bottom edge of the clock.
The treatment has added interest to what is probably a commonly photographed clock, but still allowed the viewer to see all the interesting details. I think that not being quite perfectly symetrical here adds a little subtle life as well.
Nothing to suggest.
Love the textures on the roof tiles.
Lots of bright colours in the image overall, would love to see this with a dark sky instead.
The watch is a nice interpretatin of the theme, and the written numbers behind add an intriguing layer. Lovely old watch to photograph. The warm tones reinforce the feeling of age that the watch evokes.
As the theme is about numbers, the image would be stronger if the clock face were sharper.
Simple composition leaves no doubt as to what is the subject. The colours have a nice warmth to them.
On my screen the colours are fairly muted and gives the image a dull look. A bit of brightness added with some extra emphasis on the highlights might help it "pop" more on the screen.
A lovely little piece that just glows against its background. It has the look of being shot through a store window, but not a reflection in sight, in which case, well done.
Of course that white tray (?) on the right is a view hog, but one can hardly march in and ask for it to be removed for a photo. I might crop out the safety pin, unless you consider that's part of the charm. Always the artist's choice.
I like the colour of the image and the time piece is beautifully captured in the image. The red slash in the background gives it a nice contrast to the more subdued colours elsewhere.
The soft focus on the clock face is unusual, and makes you focus on the detail surrouding it (maybe that was the artist's intent). Also, not sure what the 10/6 number in the background contributes to the impact of the image.
Nice complementary colour palette, good detail.
The numbers, while present, make such a small part of the image, and don't seem to be part of the story. Something to draw attention to the numbers, might help.
A story caught in action always has appeal, and the red stands out. Numbers are not front and centre, but meets the theme. The misty background works really well to enhance the sharpness of the foreground.
Don't be shy about cropping to unusual shapes. The sky really doesn't add anything to this story. Also, the vessel is quite central, chopping off some of the interesting wake. Leaving a little more space before and after, and a bit more in front (conventional wisdom says that allows the subject to have some room to move into - up to you whether you believe that or not) would give it more of a feeling of action. Very challenging to do with something fast moving!
bright colours against a more muted background help the craft to stand out.
Having the boat dead center in the frame tends to give the image a static feeling even though the boat is obviously in motion. Consider a wider frame and give some lead space for the boat to run into (or break the "leading space" rule and have a fast boat just about to leave the frame to hint at its speed).
While there are some numbers on the boat, they are so small as to be inconsequential to the composition. Since they are not first and foremost on the composition, this doesn't stand out as an example of the theme "Numbers".
An interesting image that captures the dynamic motion of the boat with the spray trail behind it.
I would consider using selective colour in the image of the main subject.
The numbers make up wonderful repeating elements that suit the theme perfectly. Nice diagonals give the composition energy that suits the bright colours.
This image definitely captures the market chaos feel in a compact way, and numbers are everywhere.
This could also be wonderful as part of a series of market shots.
I don't know why, but this image evokes a reaction of "smell" for me. Those kind of shops always seem to have a variety of aromas, some good, some bad.
The image is very orange-heavy. Maybe alter the colours so that all the signs are the same? Some of the white prices are out-of-focus, that takes away from the image a little.
Excellent interpretation of the theme. Interesting composition with the pools of light from above. The grainy finish suits the nostalgic subject.
Excellent exposure or treatment; the pennants really jump out. Fulfils the theme but is a truly interesting image on its own.
Nothing to add.
While the numbers are a small part of the composition, they have presence due to the vivid and contrasting colour. Lovely warm colours and interesting textures. The '"pinhole" look adds to the feel of nostalgia.
Warm lighting and good focus on the centre help to show off the lovely details of the ornaments. The numbers are there but look so natural with the subject.
I'm not sure about the choice of lens/filter/technique here. There is almost a sensation of movement or zoom effect, but subtle as it is, I'm not sure it's appropriate to a series of objects that are all the same. The motion just doesn't seem to suit the subject, and there's no obvious explanation for the out of focus effect. No technique should really become the subject of the photo.
Lots to like in this image, which has a very "coastal" mood. The different textures in the water, lovely blues, a touch of foreground and the rising clouds with sun. All work to pull together a pleasant and interesting image.
Nothing to suggest.
Captures sailing action, showing some of the thrill as the boat tilts in the wind.
On my screen, since this is almost monochromatic, the image is almost uniform "grayness". It needs some extra contrast and brightness to have some elements stand out more from the background.
While the sail has numbers on it, they are not the prime focus of the composition, so this does not say "numbers" to me as I would expect for this theme. This is more an image of action, sport, possibly even adventure.
Always good to have a story with a little action.
Lighting doesn't seem to be the best. You might have punched this up with a little digital artistry to give it a bit more punch and bring out some detail in the shadows. Or not. This is more photojournalistic, which may be your intent.
Perfectly simple yet it captures the mood of the architecture very well. The delicate number and all the textures and colours are just perfect.
I first thought that the number and the shutters were competing subjects, but the balance works. A little more side-light might have showed up more of that lovely texture but sometimes you don't have all day to wait for the light.
Nice rich colours and detail are really brought out by the shaded background. I don't know if that's how it was, or whether it's been adjusted, byt it's effective.
Unless you're setting it up for auction, sometimes a dead centre object can be a little static. It's nice to have a capture of a whole thing, but for competition, you might also consider moving in, if possible, on just a section of it. Everyone knows it's a clock ... and it doesn't really matter if they don't. It can just add something with a little more zing to an image.
Appealing angle used in creating this close-up -- more interesting than shooting straight on. The red line of keys is terrific against the black and white ones; really successful light and dark contrasts in this, as well. Well done.
The lighting brings out the textures well, and the array of colours and the diagonal viewpoint works well.
The focus is very shallow, which was probably unavoidable, but because the angle goes from bottom left to top right, having the clearest focus on the bottom/right just doesn't quite "feel" right to me, although it might just be me. Totally ignore if you disagree!
Excellent choice for this theme! The empty seats are evocative and featuring the red rows along with the grey is just right. This one is a favourite for me.
None -- really like it as is.
Cute title. The repetition and perspective bring some interest to the image. Great find on the numbers.
None.
This is bold and bright, with good oclour and a prominent number -- perfect for the theme and a nice tight shot overall, with nothing to distract. The reflected gleam isn't blown out... Bravo!
Nice little close-up to show off a few details, perfect or not.
Great Capture, you have a GREAT sense of timing.
You have a great shot, be happy with it!!
Great story. Good catch.
Maybe crop off the sky. It's a bright competitor against the white clothing of our main subject, and really doesn't add anything to the story.
Wonderful way to feature numbers, as this melting clock time-bender is an intriguing classic for good reason. The undulations of the sculpture are shown to breat effect.
Great title, by the way...!
It's hard to capture this subject wthout background "noise"... any way to shoot it by focussing on the clock and blurring the background somewhat, just to make the former stand out with less distraction...?
Great subject, well captured to get the richness of the colours and texture.
A challenge to find the perfect angle, moving a little more to the left might have blocked out some of that detail on the right.
Wow, you totally read the theme :) Very good
You may want to find an item to put in front, just as a oint of interest, I would watch for a bicycle, or maybe toss my shoes in front to get the shot. You did a great job!!
Thanks. Yes, agree about adding an interesting object.
Terrific composition, cramming a goodly number of numbers into the frame! The overall geometry of the signs makes a good pattern, and the bright colours really catch the viewer's attention. Showing the curb gives this better context, and also creates more depth.
Only a small one: would like to see just a bit less cropped from the left side, in ordet to show the 'P' sign in its entirety. It make a great counterpoint to the smaller characters and digits.
Thanks. Yes, I agree and wish I could have captured a wider scene, Unfortunately, I was traveling onboard a taxi and had to give it my best effort :)
Busy in a good way - fun image.
Showing that bit of foreground depends on whether you want to put these in context or make more of an abstract interpretation.
I like this because it's a less typical shot of bike racing -- capturing riders from the back, rather than the side. Great for this theme, as it shows off the jersey numbers even better. The bright colours are eye-catching, too -- one of my faves.
This captures a sense of the race, with a nice curve, from the vantage point, of the turn. Just a little softness to suggest motion is good too.
Please give your photos a title for these competitions.
Very amusing, a fun shot, great catch!!
I don't think that I would change a thing :)
The bloom/soft-focus gives a dreamy feeling to the image, making it appear to be of some significance in a fantasy story.
Image is well simplified and the red is a real eye grabber, so there's no confusion as to what is the main subject.

Great depth of field control, pulls the eye right to the intended point of interest. This is the kind of image that would be good for stock photography.
There is negative space in the lower right corner, and being bright white, it really pulls at the eye. if the area behind the phone was a darker shade of gray, perhaps, it might allow the eye to remain at rest on the number buttons.
