Iona Beach Regional Park

On the recommendation of Susan Millar, we propose to congregate at Iona Beach Regional Park, one of her favourite spots.  This small park is on Sea Island in Richmond, along the North Arm of the Fraser River, where the jetties extend into the Straight of Georgia.  There is the beach area, intertidal flats, North and South Ponds and McDonald Slough, which often have many varieties of birds. Boats and ships sail by on the river and out to sea.

There is an eight kilometres walk round trip along the Iona Jetty, but you need only go as far as you wish. There is also a sandy beach walk for 6 kilometres return along the North Arm Jetty.  Be prepared for possible windy conditions. It is a great location for a mid-summer outing.
