Recent Work #5 — Image Comments

A truly splendid moment of light.  The backlit trees just glow magically.  Layers of interest, starting with the horizontal bands, light and dark and then the detail of texture. 

Great image of the stormy day by the river. Here is a story for sure. Wonderful composition. The wall of deciduous trees looks so bright.

A really interesting mix of strong horizontal and delicate vertical lines.  Nice rich notes.  A feeling of quiet.

Excellent image. The background is a pretty blur and showing the environment. The work looks like a painting. The image creates a special mood.

Interesting long exposure image. The river is going between two walls. Lovely pastel's colors.

I guess the main subject is the seagull, but the diagonal line is taking my eye toward to photographer.

Although this might be a little boring in terms of subject matter, for some viewers, the composition is good, the texture in the water and the environment overall tell a good story, and the blue gives an excellent leading line.  I could see this on a magazine cover appropriate to the subject.

Oh boy, that looks cold!!!!! The cold blue of the arches emphasizes the feeling of the chill that you must have felt when you took this photo! Top marks for an excellent shot!

Looks like such a magical place!! So awesome you got out there on our only snowy day of the winter!!

Winter etude.

This really says "winter day" and there is excellent detail.  So many textures to look at, many interesting details and good reflections.  This one needs a few seconds to study (vs. "instant impact") but it has a lovely feel of quiet and serenity.  You can almost hear the snow landing on the water.

Interesting subject! Never thought this could be a good b&w photo, I would have just walked past it. Works really well with the snow scene. Very nice!

Ironic and fun; tells a story

Good subject for shooting in snowfall. Well done.

I appreciate this more, the more I look at it.  The falling snow, whether real or added later, just makes the winter feeling, and the repeating patterns, emphasized here and there by the accents of icing from the snow, have all taken a pretty ordinary subject we wouldn't look at twice, to a really nice study.

Haha, such a cool title; it gives the term "snow tires" a whole new meaning! With the fresh falling snow the tires take on a new look, an "object d'art".

This is exquisite.  It tells a story, is  amazing to look at and the white, at least on my monitor, is perfectly exposed.  Lovely textures.

This is delightful.  The exposures are bang-on, especially for the white; you can see the eyes and just overall, a lovely comparison of the two birds.

Such a common sight really created a story by adding a great title.  

Use of the silhouette combined with the muted tones makes an interesting picture

It's very difficult to take a clear image of this bird, so it's a good decision to get the silhouette of it. And sepia helps. 

A simple image with just enough ripple in the water to make an interest reflection and a few details to tell the story.

Snow and mist make this very dreamy! The open gates invite one to enter and ascend the long staircase to the mysterious, distant castle!

Picking someone out through a crowd gives a sense of a search, with the "Relief" that you have found them.

Late evening sun paints a beautiful golden highlight on the buildings

A lovely moment of light.  The perfect moment to take advantage of that perfectly placed shadow.  Very rich and mellow.  It communicates a fun, happy afternoon.

Beautiful colour and tone. Not sure what editing job has been done to the sky and the  foreground, but it definitely complement the church really well. A very nice 'painting'.

OK personal bias here, but this is another one I'd put on my wall without hesitation.  The slight reflection, texture in the water and the moody environment all tell a great story.
