Ah nostalgia.. all the elements are there ready for a road trip ... once upon a time anyway.
The brightness of the pump seems just a little at odds with the muted background. I'm not sure it needs to stand out quite that much.
Very good interpretation of the theme;; A great and unique image; the car and gas pump in the middle of nowhere. I like the sepia tone of the old antique car and foliage giving the image that old photo look. Including a gas pump iis a great as it adds interest to the image.
The gas pump really stands out and is in stark contrast to the rest of the image and ithe dominant part of the photo IMO. It looks like the gas pump was added via photoshop. Blending in the pump with the rest of the photo by giving it an old look as well would be more effective as the pump then becomes and intergral part of the scene instead of a dominant addition to the scene. In any case it is a wonderful image..
My eye easily follows the road. The red car pops out of the image.
Not sure what obstacles are off to the left but it would have been good to include the left most s-curve for continuity of the road.
Nice scenery, a curving road and a red car. What more do you need? The placement of the car just encourages me to follow the road.
Leading lines, i.e. the road, take our eyes out of the frame, but we do pass some nice scenery on the way.
A wonderful landscape image and great interpretation of the theme. Great perspective . The viewer is drawn into the photo as one vehicle is shown travelling along a quiet, winding road through a beautiful and vast landscape of gentlle rolling hills and flat terrain. Good depth of field; image is sharp throughout.. . Good tonal range. Exposure, contrast and vibrancy is well handled.. This photo makes me want to go to this location. Good work.
None
The contrast, almost like a B/W image then you have the reds and the greens beliving different.
The red car draws your eye as a starting point to look down the road to the bay. The processing makes the image look nostalgic - a nice touch.
There is a bit of noise in the sky that could be removed via software.
Ah, a classic photo. Definitely a leading line to the water but enough to hold your attention.
I'm not sure about the treatment overall, but the sky just does not look right with a vignette on one side and what appears to be erasure in the other. The point of the image really isn't the tops of the left hand buildings, so you could have also cropped to reduce some of the sky.
The mountains really pop!
The processing has left somewhat of a "halo" around the top of the mountains. Could try turning down the clarity on the mountains.
Hard to beat those mountain views. The road helps to really draw our eyes to those mountains.
There appears to have been some enhancement done; the mountains seem almost like they have an outline... it has a bit of an artificial look . . .
That is just the way the mountains are; cant help it if the mountains look artififical . Only enhancement was to slightly increase contrast, and clarity.
This is a really lovely image with soft colours, reflections, repetition and a definite centre of interest.
Most of us fly to Venice so I'm having a little trouble associating it with "road trip" or "on the road...", although of course you could have rented a car. OK I take it all back ...
Sets a nice mood, and even better one if you prefer your road trips on the backs of big animals. Good composition.
I'd like to see a little more contrast and saturation in the aspens; overall it seems a little washed out (exposure is good for the horses but that can be adjusted).
Great action shot. Well done
A whole new spin on "road trip". A nice implied curve and plenty of colour. Not my idea of a road trip but each to his/her own.
What does the building and parking sign add to the action? I'd say nothing. Why not crop down and really keep our eyes on these racers.
Great colours. Love that rich sky. Polarized or just the time of year?
I think your best composition is on the left. You have an interesting foreground shrub, the stump nad the mix of mountain textures ... not to mention that dark sky. I think this would do very well as a vertical on the left. That would say it all. As it is, somehow my eye keeps wandering to that bare spot on the right. . .
It's hard to go wrong with a shoreline shot of that beautiful coast. Great for the scrapbook.
This is a frequently taken type of coast view photo. What can you do to make it unique to you? I might start by cropping off about 1/3 of the right hand trees. They just pull our eye away from the ocean.
The title lead me to believe until I got a closer look. Trickery with the eyes.
Oh, did we start the road trip a little early? Pretty cool for a road trip story. Snow is well exposed. Not something the judges would jump up and down over (sorry), but it would be a great part of a slide show or scrap book story of this journey.
I see some interesting possibilities in the meeting of snow and shadow, shadow textures, roof, snow and sky ... I hope you took some time to look around and play a little. And yes, any abstract you created would NOT have fit the theme as well... which is maybe why you chose this one.
Nicely done. Looking at this, you'd think it was on a remote coast somewhere rather than practically in the city. Perfect sky, good composition. A frequently taken shot done as well as possible and definitely road trip fodder.
Thanks
Good composition . The stained glass is framed nicely in the photo. All the different shapes add to the photo.
Is that what they are called, very nice bit of arcitecture capture.
A little dark, but it is the window that is the subject, thank you
There is no artificial lighting in this part of the building, so in keeping with the atmousphere in the building I kept the image dark as it is. And if I had increased the exposure of the photo it would completly blow out the details of the stainglass window. If I had choosen to use a poto editor to mask the two elements of the photo to increase the exposure on the dark areas then it would look very unatural.
Great cature.
I may have gone a bit wider and included more of the car, but a fun shot just the same. Perhaps next time wash the goats first :)
Ha Ha Ha
I'm slow. Too much driving in the UK maybe but first thought was that it was perfectly normal. oh NOW I get it... Such cute little scruffy animals just go where they want. Cute road trip story for sure.
Although the curving road sets a bit more of a scene, it also pulls our eyes away from the main subjects. Block off the part above the car; you can still see a curve but attention is now 100% on the story and less about our eyes wandering off down the road.
Very ironic and true to its company's business. It's what they do.
Super capture, I like the way the subject is reasonably clear driving into a background of mist. Well done!!
No real suffestion, this is a nice shot :)
The "air conditioned" people in the back of the truck is fun! The red truck immediately draws your eye. Lots of space in front for the truck to move forward.
Great little pun and wow - red against the soft colours works so well to draw our attention yet show the background. Things seen on the road! Darn, I remember back in the day when riding in the back of a truck was such a thrill.
Very interesting image. Titled well - really makes me feel the frustration of the drivers waiting to get home on this raining evening.
Been there, great capture, very good
No real suggestion, maybe try the same shot with a longer exposure, may or may not be interesting. I like the bright lights
Well, let's hope these travelers run into less traffic on the rest of their road trip! Great lights and all those brake lights really tell it. The reflections add to the overall effect. I feel traffic frustration just looking at it.
Not quite abstract and not quite a pattern ... my eye is looking for something to settle on, but the overall impression is still very effective.
I have never known anyone who has rode a camel. Great perspective and no camera shake :)
Really a good job. I don't usually like scenes that are baren, somewhat bleak, but hey, you did a great job. I look forward to more camel shots :)
Simple and effective. Great story.
Great shot, good things happen when you get out of the car and go for a walk. I can see the other cars parked on the top right hand side, their pictures will not be as good as yours :)
Great shot as is, I might try upping the vibrence with deeper colours.
I was going to submit the photo with more vibrance as it is my personal preference but from experience I know that if I did submit the photo with more vibrance I would get negative comments from members that is it overprocessed so I decided to be be safe and keep the photo more natural. However, I still get a negative comment so I cant win
This image does a great job of conveying the concept of a road trip!! I like how creative it is with the multiple images, carefully chosen to go together so well. Great effort!!!
Great fun shot, you have done very well
Try a night version of the same shot :)
Great effect that captures the expression and the road. Way to get out of the box.
A story of a peaceful drive or ramble. Beautiful colours; balance. Nicely found and beautifully shared.
The image gives off a warm & relaxing feeling.
Suggest trying to remove some of the shadows on the tree trunks and tone down the brightness at the end of the road to even out the contrast a bit - it might give the image more detail front to back.
Lovely little tunnel for the road; lovely shot.
A wonderful story of a road trip; nice sense of scale; wonderful foreground detail and colours to spark the otherwise quiet palette.
Road, motorhome, and no sun. This says road trip like no sunny day does. Definitely a long way from home, the point of view and that colour on the left, the overall moodiness. Nice.
A wonderful subject for the theme; the sense of scale is beautifully displayed. Wonderful textures.
The first thing that struck me was how jagged the road seems with the angles of the guard rails; they kind of remove the smooth curve feeling. Interesting road trip shot.
A compelling and dramatic image of a quiet switchback road with a series of varying curves and tigjht turns through desolate , rough and rocky terrain. Great view , and wonderful perspective . The road fills the frame as it winds its way from the background on the left and right part of the frame to the foreground in the left third quadrant of the frame giving the image depth. The few vehicles on the road give scale to the photo and are their location in the photo follow the rule of thirds as eahc vehicle or group of vehicles is located in each third of the frame. Nicely done
None. Photo is goods as is
The story of a serene drive, beautifully told.
Strong composition. The road and the fence draw the eye through the photo.
Lovely ess curve in the road and fence lines!! The clouds make for a very interesting sky and your composition is spot on!
Just looking at this is soothing - a very peaceful looking piece of road. Good title.
A fun interpretation of the theme; the selected desaturation adds to the sense of "past".
A shame that the tip of the car had to be clipped. The sense of "road trip" would be stronger with a whole car.
Good use of selective colour.
Good shot, the old Teaco gas pumps bring a strong sense of nostalgia to the sceen and deserve to be in colour.
What is that thing over by the window? Maybe superimpose a nice Pepsi Machine over it :)
Like the old time feel to this! Interesting "scarecrow" at the window. I also like the border treatment.
Could try lightening up the "scarecrow" to give it a bit more deatil.
The rich blacks and overalal contrast, combined with the red pumps really make this image stand out. Hmmm, not sure about that guy against the wall though.
A fascinating story; so exotic yet so familiar. Nicely focused despite being shot on the road. The treatment gives it the sense of a memory of a story past.
Love the retro processing on this image. It enhances the feeling of being in the past. The subject matter is very interesting; I can't help but wonder what kind of cargo is being carried in the big truck.
Very smile provoking; a story of road trips enjoyed and those to come. Beautiful blue tones.
Good storytelling - makes me wonder where this camper has been and the good times had in it. Good compostion - placement of the half shown heart in the photo adds to the story.

Great old car! Like the simplicity of the background.
I would suggest toning down the whites in the gas pump as it dominates the image.
